Description: Dr. Kramer will discuss common ENT issues including surgical and non-surgical options for care with the focus of this presentation centering on ears.  Dr. Kramer will discuss some of the most common ear procedures including myringotomies and tympanostomies, but will also cover mastoidectomies, osseointegrated implants and more. Then join Teresa Owen in a follow-up to Dr. Kramer’s presentation as she talks your ear off on the ins and outs related to coding audiology surgeries. The presentation will tackle simple procedures like myringotomy with tube insertion to more challenging procedures, such as mastoidectomies. Both CPT and ICD-10-PCS codes will be reviewed. You’ll leave with quite an ear full!!

Speaker: Dr. Scott Kramer was raised in the Chicago area before completing his undergraduate studies at Northwestern University. He then came to Columbus and earned a medical degree from Ohio State. He went on to complete Otolaryngology residency at Ohio State, including nearly a full year at Nationwide Children's Hospital focused on pediatric otolaryngology. Dr. Kramer is passionate about providing excellent care for his patients and is interested in managing a diverse range of head and neck disorders for both children and adults. He loves spending time with his wife Stacy, an Ohio native, and their two young children. He is excited to practice with Ohio ENT and Allergy Physicians and looks forward to meeting his new patients. 

Speaker: Teresa Owen, RHIT, CCS, CIRCC, is a graduate of the HIM program from Eastern Gateway Community College. Teresa was an active student member of the EGCC Medical Coding Specialist & HIM Advisory Committee contributing to program development. She was awarded the OHIMA New Graduate award in 2014.

Teresa is currently a remote coder for McLeod Health located in South Carolina. She has 9 years of experience in the outpatient setting, having coded both facility and physician services. Holding both AHIMA and AAPC certifications with a focus on Same Day Surgery and IR coding affords her a unique perspective on procedural coding topics.  She was a co-presenter for an OHIMA Interventional Radiology webinar series.

Teresa enjoys sharing her experience and knowledge to help others succeed in the coding profession. She has been a trainer for new coders in the workplace, as well as a resource for those attending HIM classes and seeking certification. She hopes her presentations can help others to tackle hard to grasp coding areas.
