Description: Behavioral health and substance abuse records are covered by specific state and federal laws but appropriate access to this information is still extremely important for continuity of care. We will discuss the importance of information governance as it relates to behavioral health records and what you need to know to create ideal policies on the HIPAA Privacy Rule, the Right to Access provision, Release of Information, Health Information Exchange (HIE), and record retention in compliance with the specific regulations.

She holds the credentials of Registered Health Information Administrator, Certified Health Data Analyst, Certified Coding Specialist, and Certified Healthcare Technology Specialist in addition to a Bachelors in Health Information Administration from the University of Cincinnati and a Masters in Business Administration from Saint Leo University. Erin is also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt. She came to Iron Mountain in 2020 as a Senior Healthcare Consultant following a successful career for over 15 years in Health Information Management, Coding, Medical Staff Credentialing, and Quality Resource Management leadership in hospitals and physician office settings.
