This project was created by the OHIMA Virtual Intercollegiate Practicum Task Force and is to be used by members of the OHIMA VIP group only. Completion of the entire project is estimated as 10 hours of PPE.

According to Healthy People 2030, health literacy is defined as follows:

Personal health literacy is the degree to which individuals have the ability to find, understand, and use information and services to inform health-related decisions and actions for themselves and others.

Organizational health literacy is the degree to which organizations equitably enable individuals to find, understand, and use information and services to inform health-related decisions and actions for themselves and others.

In this project, students will use these definitions to create a deliverable that could be used by a healthcare organization to promote health literacy for their patients.

Completion of the entire project is estimated at ten (10) hours of professional practicum time. All information in the OHIMA Learning Management System (LMS) and video links will be available for one month after the conclusion of this practicum experience.
