Description: EHR technologies such as interoperability, digital infrastructure, and HIAs (health information exchanges) continue to evolve and transform the healthcare industry. The changing world of health care technology will continue to pressure the industry to change and adapt, hopefully for the better. This presentation highlights The MetroHealth System's successes with leveraging health information exchange technologies such as SSA Health Exchange, Chart Gateway and Payer Platform intended to streamline operations and improve experiences with its stakeholders related to the EHR. The MetroHealth System is a Stage 7 hospital and outpatient network validated by The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) where aspects of this achievement will be highlighted.

Speaker:  Christina Janus, MBA, RHIA, is an experienced HIM professional who has been working in the industry for over 30 years in various roles. She is currently employed by The MetroHealth System in Cleveland, Ohio where she is the Director of Health Information Management. Christy is a Past President of the Ohio Health Information Management Association (OHIMA) and she currently serves on the Northern Ohio HIMSS Board. Her undergraduate degree is from The Ohio State University in HIM. She holds an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University as well as a post baccalaureate graduate certificate in Health Informatics from Kent State University. Christy is actively credentialed as a RHIA through AHIMA. Christy has facilitated the implementation of Chart Gateway and Payer Platform for The MetroHealth System. The MetroHealth System implemented SSA health information exchange in 2014 where it continues to work seamlessly. Christy has participated in several successful HIMSS Level 7 surveys for The MetroHealth System.
