Description: June and Jean will present an overview of ICD-11 to include a discussion of US progress through The National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS) workgroups and the Request For Information. The progress other countries are making on adoption of the new code set will also be discussed. They will introduce the audience to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) the international standard to describe and measure health and disability in ICD-11. This session will include a review of the basic ICD-11 coding guidelines, browser and coding tools.

Speaker: June Bronnert, MHI, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, is the Vice President, Global Clinical Services at IMO Health where she provides health informatics and health information management subject matter expertise for IMO's terminology and data quality solutions. Prior to her current position, she was a Senior Director and Director of Terminology Mapping where she provided code set expertise while overseeing daily operations of code mappings for the organization. Prior to joining IMO, she held various positions including Professional Practice Director at AHIMA where she provided professional expertise to develop AHIMA products and services aimed at furthering the art and science of health information management(HIM). She was responsible for content development and technical reviews of the Association's products and resources. Mrs. Bronnert's experience includes positions ranging from Coding professional, Coding Supervisor, and Director at various facilities, including the Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA). She was a member of the National Coding Council at the VA where she provided coding educational programs. June was also an adjunct educator for Cincinnati State's RHIT program and University of Cincinnati's RHIA program for numerous years while being active in her state and local HIM association. She obtained her masters in health informatics from Northeastern University and her Health Information Management degree from Indiana University.
Speaker: Jean Stevens, RHIT, CCS-P, has held several different positions throughout her career, including manager of an OB-GYN practice, coding compliance auditor, physician coding educator, member of the medical policy team at the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, adjunct faculty member of Columbus State Community College and a mapping analyst for a terminology software company. Jean is currently a member of the AHIMA exam development committee for the CCS-P certification.
