VIP - HCC Risk Adjustment Coding

The HCC Risk Adjustment Coding Module is designed to provide students an
opportunity to:

  • Gain understanding of risk adjustment methodology and HCC coding principles
  • Practice assigning ICD-10-CM codes and mapping to Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCCs)
  • Apply MEAT/TAMPER criteria for documentation sufficiency assessment
  • Analyze Risk Adjustment Factor (RAF) scores and their impact on healthcare organizations
  • Review and identify opportunities for risk adjustment compliance improvement
  • Attend feedback session to discuss HCC code selection, RAF calculations, and compliance project

Completion of the entire project is estimated at ten (10) hours of professional practicum time. All information in the OHIMA LMS and video links will be available for one month after the conclusion of this practicum experience.
