Description: What does ICD look like beyond ICD-10? The World Health Organization addressed this topic through creation of ICD-11. In 2019, the World Health Assembly agreed to the adoption of the system for member countries. This session will review the development of ICD-11 along with the fundamental features of the system. At the end of the presentation, attendees will be able to define ICD-11 conventions and recognize an ICD-11 code.

Speaker: Jean Stevens, RHIT, CCS-P has over twenty-five years’ experience in the coding and reimbursement arena. She is credentialed as a RHIT and CCS-P. Jean is employed by Intelligent Medical Objects as a Principal Analyst for the International Mapping team where her primary responsibility is working with ICD-10 Canada and the Canadian Classification of Health Interventions (CCI). She is a member of the IMO ICD-11 workgroup. Jean is also an adjunct faculty member for the HIM program at Columbus State Community College.
Speaker: June Bronnert, MsHI, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P is the Director of Terminology Mapping at Intelligent Medical Objects where she provides health information management subject matter expertise while overseeing daily operations of code mappings for IMO’s terminology solutions. June’s experience includes positions ranging from Coding professional, Coding Supervisor, and Director at various facilities, including the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and Professional Practice Director at AHIMA. June was also an adjunct educator for Cincinnati State RHIT program and University of Cincinnati RHIA program for numerous years while being active in her state and local HIM association.
