Description: HIM professionals assume a broad role to ensure a healthy revenue cycle organization. Whether inpatient or outpatient, an independent audit function serves to mitigate risk by ensuring accurate, complete and compliant coding. These audits may be concurrent or retrospective and often focus on high volume diagnoses, procedures or Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs). Understanding the details and basis for your audit, as well as providing relevant coder education, is crucial to measure program results. In this session, attendees will learn how to utilize coding audits to make sustainable improvement by focusing on analysis, hands-on education, and ongoing risk management.
