Data: The Key to Success for CDI Programs in a Value-Based World

Description: As healthcare reimbursement continues to shift from volume-based to value-based, CDI programs must evolve as well to remain a critical component in the revenue cycle. Traditionally, CDI programs have focused on DRG optimization. While that remains an important part of a healthy CDI program, value-based reimbursement demands expansion into the wide world of quality outcomes. Quality outcomes are measured and driven by a wide array of factors. Data allows one to identify areas of opportunity, prioritize objectives, monitor performance, and assess success. It prevents the common error of investing valuable time and resources into objectives and tasks which result in minimal or even worse no impact on quality outcomes. In this session, we will review the data needed to identify areas of opportunity, set priorities, and monitor performance. We will also create an action plan which capitalizes on the information gleaned through data review. Join us to learn more about a data-driven approach to quality outcomes and set yourself up for success.

Objectives:
After this session the learner will be able to:
1. Identify key components driving outcomes in CMS’s hospital-based pay for performance programs.
2. Interpret outcomes reported in CMS-issued Hospital Specific Reports (HSR).
3. Identify opportunities for performance improvement via HSR analysis.
4. Create a data-driven action plan to impact quality outcomes.
