Description: The pressure to reduce the cost of healthcare and the often-confusing public perception of widespread Medicare and Medicaid fraud has caused both government and commercial payers to increase healthcare audits. These massive projects can bring mission-critical Health Information Management (HIM) processes to a halt, impacting compliance, care quality and financial performance. As a result, private payer audits need more focused review, instead of broad scopes and mass denials. This session delves into the challenges of commercial payer audits, provides insight to improve the integrity of these audits, and offers best practices to navigate the complicated process in its current state.
