Transforming HIM Workflows with Technology: The OhioHealth Experience

Speaker: Rhonda Hupp - I have been employed by OhioHealth for 22 years in multiple roles in HIM.  I started as a temp file clerk in 1999 and was hired as an assembly and analysis clerk a short 3 months later.  That led me to returning to school at age 32 and earning my Associates Degree in Health Information Technology at Columbus State in 2003 and my Bachelors in Health Information Administration in 2007.  I have been the HIM Operations Director for about 13 years and in that role have participated in or lead multiple implementations.  Those included McKesson STAR Clinicals and Financials, Horizon Patient Folder, creating the Recovery Audit Contractor team, Epic implementation for the network, Hyland Onbase in addition to EDCO Solarity among others.  I currently oversee the HIM departments for 8 physical hospitals and 4 virtual ones and 85 FTEs.

Speaker:  Justin Myers, RHIA, has been employed with OhioHealth for 6 years. He started his career at OhioHealth in 2015 in the HIM Specialist role. Through development and opportunity, he was quickly able to obtain the role of HIM supervisor and later HIM Operations Manager. In 2014, he graduated from Hocking College with an Associate's Degree in HIM.  After graduation from Hocking College, he took advantage of the University of Cincinnati bridge program to obtain his Bachelor's of Science in Health Information Management. Some notable project completions in which he's assisted includes: Solarity Implementation, Point of Care Scanning, document conversions/legacy archives including OnBase and OLAH, hospital acquisitions, and HIM centralization. Currently oversees HIM departments for 4 physical hospitals and 1 virtually.

Speaker:  Matt Vicarel is a Senior Account Executive with for Solarity, and has been with the company for over 8 years. In his role, Matt works with leaders at hospitals, clinic groups and health systems to identify areas of inefficiency in medical record management and provide consultative guidance for how challenges can be addressed with Solarity’s AI-based, service-backed technology. Prior to his role at Solarity, Matt was a member of the Healthcare sales team for an industry leading provider of content management solutions. All told, he has more than 12 years of experience working with healthcare organizations to help address workflow challenges using technology.
