Description: Musculoskeletal coding for hand/wrist/foot/ankle procedures is a challenging proposition. With these body parts representing over 50% of the bones in the body, more than 50 joints, and over 200 muscles, tendons, and ligaments, it is no wonder that coding professionals are often perplexed when faced with coding these procedures. *ICD-10-PCS workshop attendees will need:

1) Either a 2022 ICD-10-PCS, a laptop with access to an encoder, or the ICD-10-PCS code tables and index plus the guidelines file from CMS in order to code cases during the program. The file can be downloaded from the CMS website. 

2) Print the PDF handout for note-taking or have it downloaded onto your laptop if you can work from the screen.

Intermediate to advanced concepts of ICD-10-PCS coding of wrist, hand, ankle and foot procedures which are performed in hospitals today will be covered. Coders will experience the code assignment following educational material on the topic using surgical descriptions, animated videos and artwork to describe the procedures.
• Review and apply root operations commonly used for musculoskeletal procedure coding
• Apply guidelines to musculoskeletal cases as you code
• In-depth discussion of challenging reconstructive procedures
• Analyze operative report documentation to correctly assign ICD-10-PCS codes to wrist, hand, ankle and foot procedures
