Surgical Approach to Valvular Heart Disease

Description: Join me for an up to date look at the surgical treatment of valvular heart disease. In this session, we will review both open and minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of valvular heart disease, PCS/CPT coding, and pertinent guidance. Additionally, we will explore the documentation challenges of commonly associated post-operative conditions.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session the learner will:

  • Have a working knowledge of valvular anatomy and commonly occurring diseases
  • Gain an understanding to the surgical correction of valvular heart disease and the associated PCS/CPT coding of those procedures
  • Understand the documentation and coding challenges of commonly occurring post-operative conditions associated with valvular heart disease, such as congestive heart failure

Speaker:  Adriane Martin, DO, FACOS, CCDS, graduated from the University of North Texas Health Science Center with her Doctorate of Osteopathy. She completed her general surgery residency at Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas/Ft. Worth in 2004. Dr. Martin has practiced general surgery for over 15 years. Since 2014 Dr. Martin has been a part of the Enjoin team. Integrity and caring for people are the two factors that were the drivers behind Dr. Martin's surgical career and continue to be the guiding force in her role as vice president of Physician Services. As vice president of Physician Services, Dr. Martin has many roles: subject matter expert in ICD-10 CM/PCS coding, DRG and quality management, denials management and Industry thought leadership speaking both at the state and national level.
