Basic Medical Terminology

Description: Basic Medical Terminology will provide the framework needed before advancing to a more comprehensive medical terminology course designed for those seeking to become a coder. This course will focus on the many components of a medical term and how to break down a medical term by simply knowing the meaning of the prefix or suffix. By learning the individual parts of a medical word, you will not need to memorize hundreds of complex medical terms and their definitions.

This is a great beginner course to take on your career path as a coder, and also serves equally well as a refresher for all health information management professionals. This is a prerequisite course for the Advanced Medical Terminology course for coding that OHIMA also offers online.

If you receive a score of 70% or higher on this course's Final Test (50 questions), you will earn the CEUs for this course. If you do not pass, you will not receive the CEUs. Because the answers are provided upon submission, the Final Test cannot be retaken.
